MOOG’s new freaky soundbeast
This just in.
New guitar made by MOOG (yes, that MOOG).
Uses some kind of futuristic resonating pickups to forcefully control the sustain of the guitar strings.
So.. Meaning… ?
Well, meaning that the MOOG guitar creates perpetual sustain, or no sustain at all, on a per-string basis. The muted “no-sustain” sound is markedly similar to a tenor banjo, while the sustain sounds like you’ve got an ebow grafted on to each of your fingers.. yet with a faster attack. Check out the video above from the MOOG website to get an earful of the aural bliss that this thing is capable of..
One of the most striking things about the MOOG is that the sounds you get come directly from the strings, there’s a real physical connection between your gestures and the sound produced.. an essential quality of good instrument design that MOOG seems to have taken to heart.
Only $6,500? Let me call up my record label.
